Ingenuity Takes Flight

2
00:00:18.750 --> 00:00:25.460
APRIL 19, 2021 Earlier today, Ingenuity should have autonomously performed its first flight attempt on Mars.

3
00:00:25.460 --> 00:00:30.400
Now, the team is ready to receive the data that will tell them whether we’ve made history.

4
00:00:30.960 --> 00:00:34.300
This is downlink. We are beginning to see data products.

5
00:00:34.300 --> 00:00:37.700
Rotor motors appear healthy all actuators appear healthy.

6
00:00:37.700 --> 00:00:47.410
Ingenuity is reporting having performed spin up, take off, climb, hover, descent, landing, touchdown and spin down.

7
00:00:47.410 --> 00:00:52.820
Altimeter data confirmed that Ingenuity has performed its first flight.

8
00:00:53.450 --> 00:00:57.360
First flight of a powered aircraft on another planet.

9
00:01:17.840 --> 00:01:23.580
We can now say that human beings have flown a rotorcraft on another planet.

10
00:01:25.620 --> 00:01:29.220
Let’s get back to work and more flights! Congratulations!
